Alpha Asset Management MFMC -Honored at the Best Fund Managers Awards 2023

The "Best Fund Managers' Awards 2023" ceremony, organized annually by the Panhellenic Union of Mutual Fund & Bond Shareholders (PEMAKO), was successfully held. These awards, recognized by the business and investment community as a premier financial sector event, once again attracted key figures from politics, government, and business from Greece, Cyprus, and abroad.
Alpha Asset Management MFMC received awards for four mutual funds, which achieved the highest returns in their respective categories.

About the Company

Alpha Asset Management MFMC, a member of the Alpha Bank Group, is one of Greece’s leading asset management firms for both retail and institutional investors, with over 34 years of investment expertise. As an innovator in the Greek market, the company introduced Fund of Funds in 2005 and launched Greece's first exchange-traded fund (ETF) in 2008, which tracks the Athens Stock Exchange.

As of February 27, 2024, the company's total assets under management (AUM) reached €4.8 billion, marking an increase of €1.3 billion in 2023. Alpha Asset Management MFMC manages 37 mutual funds domiciled in Greece and Luxembourg, covering all major investment categories across both Greek and global capital markets.

The company ranks first in equity mutual funds, managing €663 million (as of February 27, 2024). Additionally, it manages Greece’s largest mutual fund, “Alpha Global Allocation Balanced,” with €626 million in assets, which has consistently maintained a 5-star Morningstar rating.

The “Alpha ETF FTSE Athex Large Cap”, which marked 15 years on the Athens Stock Exchange, stood out in 2023 with an impressive annual return of 42.11% and a 289% increase in trading volume compared to 2022.

Furthermore, the company manages €0.9 billion segragated accounts for institutional clients, including pension and occupational funds, as well as insurance companies.

Since December 2018, Alpha Asset Management MFMC has been a signatory to the United Nations-supported PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment) Initiative. In response to the growing demand for ESG investments, and in alignment with Alpha Bank Group's commitment to ESG criteria, the company modified two additional mutual funds in 2023 to integrate ESG principles. This led to a 21% increase in ESG fund assets, bringing the total to €284 million, making it the largest increase in ESG assets in Greece.

1st place in the Greek Bond Mutual Fund category (2023 performance: +14.66%)

The Fund’s objective is to provide a total return from income and capital growth over the medium to long-term, by investing primarily in Greek government bonds. The Fund is actively managed with the purpose of developing investment views on the yield curve and bond spreads, along with selecting individual issuers or issues based on credit and relative value analysis. The Fund invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of bonds issued by the Greek government, while it may also invest in bonds issued by companies domiciled in or having economic activities in Greece, as well as in Greek treasury bills.

 1st place in the Greek Bond Mutual Fund Category (2021-2023)

The Fund’s objective is to provide a total return from income and capital growth over the medium to long-term, by investing primarily in Greek corporate bonds. The fund is actively managed with the purpose of developing investment views on the yield curve and bond spreads. The Fund invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of bonds issued by companies domiciled in or having economic activities in Greece, while it also invests in bonds and treasury bills issued by the Greek government.

Award-Winning Fund: “Alpha Global Blue Chips Equity Institutional”

1st Place in the Developed Market Equity Mutual Fund Category (2021-2023)

The Fund‘s objective is provide capital growth and income over the long-term, by investing primarily in equities of large capitalization companies globally. The fund is actively managed with the purpose of developing investment views on the attractiveness and prospects of equity sectors, along with selecting individual securities based on companies’ growth prospects, balance sheet quality, level of corporate governance and valuation. The Fund invests in highly liquid equities of large capitalization companies which have economic activities in any sector or geographic area.

Award-Winning Fund: “Alpha Fund of Funds Cosmos Stars USA ESG Equity Institutional”

 1st Place in Equity Fund of Funds Category (2021-2023 & 2023)

The Fund’s objective is to provide capital growth and income over the long-term, by investing primarily in units or shares of UCITS or other UCIs, providing exposure to the U.S. equity market. The Fund is actively managed with the purpose of selecting individual funds managed by leading international asset managers based on the assessment of quantitative and qualitative criteria. These criteria evaluate parameters such as historical returns, volatility, stability of outperformance, behavior in different environments, structure and composition of management team, investment strategy and procedures, risk management policy, etc. Moreover, the Fund applies certain ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria to define a suitable range of underlying UCITS with top ESG ratings and drive the portfolio towards the ones with strong sustainability performance.
